The renovation of this 7,000sf townhouse located within the Upper East Side landmark district called for the complete restoration of the building envelope and a gut-renovation of its interiors. Scope included facade restoration, significant structural repairs, all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, new kitchens and bathrooms, and new interior finishes throughout. The existing structural system of wood joists bearing on masonry parti-walls was systematically replaced as this had been extensively damaged by previous renovations and water leaks. The aesthetic of the design combines historic details with contemporary space planning and design.
