Project Description

This competition-winning library design envisioned introducing the first modern building in Milford’s downtown historic district. The library is set back from the street, creating a large open public green space for the town, and the building’s massing creates a unique and memorable space that appears to float within the trees and woodland at the rear of the site. In addition, the siting optimizes views of the woods and natural environment from within the library. The building design integrates green roofs, natural ventilation and daylighting, high-performance double glazing, and efficient MEP systems including radiant floor heating.
